Some of my favorite posts from other bloggers are the ones that chronicle a “day in the life” of their world. I’m always curious to take a peek behind the scenes and see what everybody else does all day, so why not give it a go myself? Here’s a snapshot of a typical Tuesday:

7:15a – 9:00a: Alarm goes off, and I hit snooze like five times. Actually get up an hour later. Unload the dishwasher and take the pooch out.

9:00a – 10:00a: Tuesdays and Thursdays I try to go to the gym to do some weight machines. I get in and get out, thinking about coffee and breakfast the whole time.

10:00a – 10:30a: Come home, take a quick shower, then make coffee and a breakfast smoothie at the same time, because I need all the beverages. While the kettle of hot water is heating up for my French press coffee, I get out the blender to make a smoothie that will refuel me from the workout. Lately, I’ve been loving the combo of one banana, a handful of fresh cherries, TruMoo Chocolate Milk, and some ice. The chocolate milk is a great source of protein that will keep me full until lunch.

10:30a – 12:30p: Get a little computer work out of the way, which includes promoting the day’s new blog post on my social media accounts, responding to reader comments and answering client e-mails.

12:30p – 12:45p: Tuesdays and Thursdays are “photo days,” where I’ll cook and photograph at least two new recipes each day. If the recipes are simple, I can start early afternoon, but if they are more complicated, I need to start earlier in the day. Today’s recipes are pretty simple, so I have time for a cup of soup for lunch before I get started.

12:45p – 3:45p: Test and photograph two new recipes.

3:45p – 4:15p: Um seriously, how are there this many dirty dishes?

4:15p – 6:00p: I’ll go back to computer work for a little bit, usually with “Ellen” or “Friends” on in the background. I”ll work until Jeff gets home from his own job around 6pm, and then call it a day. I’ll “make dinner,” which usually just means re-heating the food I cooked and photographed earlier, then we’ll take the dog for a walk and relax the rest of the evening.

Chocolate, Cherry & Banana Smoothie

Yield: 2 to 3 servings

Prep Time: 5 minutes


  • 2 bananas
  • 1-1/2 cups TruMoo Chocolate Milk
  • 1 cup fresh cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup ice


  1. In blender, combine bananas, chocolate milk and cherries; blend until smooth. Add ice and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.

  2. I would probably do this with chocolate protein powder & regular milk (I’m not sure I could go through a ‘bottle’ of it fast enough or that the TrueMoo would fit my nutrition requirements).  Love this idea.  Will definitely have to try it in some form.

      • So glad you liked the protein powder!  It’s the one we use all the time, along with the Double Chocolate and the plain flavors.  Tastes are so individual regarding protein powders that you never know if someone will like what you recommend.  Actually Designer Whey is the only one we’ve found that we really like.

  3. Lori, I’m a total voyeur so I loved this glimpse into your life! I’m one of those annoying people who always peek into people’s cupboards ‘n drawers when I visit their houses, lol. And even though I rarely drink chocolate milk, I love the stuff. It makes me feel like a kid again whenever I have it. This smoothie sounds delicious!

  4. Ha! Yes! Our dinners are always just reheats of the days work. I’m definitely going to be making this smoothie. We just got a new BlendTec blender and my kids beg me all the time to make them a smoothie. With the TruMoo chocolate milk in there, they will sing my praises for weeks!
