Simple, yet special, recipes for the home chef.

Introducing Ziplist on Foxes Love Lemons

Are you as quasi-OCD organized as me? I’m a list-maker, highlighter, and organizer to the extreme. I love it, and I’ll never change. But I’ll admit that printing every recipe I see on the Internet that I want to make someday and trying to organize them in a massive 3-ring binder that is bursting at the seams isn’t my best option anymore.

That’s why I’ve teamed up with Ziplist –  it provides you (and me!) with an easy way to save, organize and print recipes from Foxes Love Lemons, and across the rest of the Internet as well. Oh, and it’ll build a grocery list for you AND give you coupons for ingredients. I know, right?

If you’re browsing food websites and blogs frequently, you might be meal planning around the awesome recipes you find. Ziplist allows you to save recipes from many of your favorite sites to one central personalized recipe box. You can use your personal recipe box to sort recipes based on ingredients or preparation time, help plan meals for the week or month ahead, and create a mobile phone-accessible shopping list based on the recipes you’ve chosen!

FYI – all Foxes Love Lemons recipes from the last two months (and all moving forward) are/will be in the Ziplist format. For recipes before December 2013….well, I’m working on it. Bear with me – I have to go back one by one and re-format them, and that task is about as painful as a wisdom tooth extraction. Except there’s no laughing gas for the re-formatting, so it’s actually way less fun.

If you’re new to Ziplist, don’t worry, it’s easy:

Let’s pretend you’re in the mood for some healthy smoothie breakfasts next week, so you want to save my Mocha Banana Breakfast Smoothie recipe for later. If you scroll down to the recipe in my post, you’ll see small “Save Recipe” and “Print” buttons. Click on “Save Recipe.”

If you don’t have a Ziplist account yet, you’ll be prompted to create one. It’s simple – you can even sign in with one click using your Facebook account if you want.

After you click “Save Recipe,” this recipe will be available to you in your recipe box on Ziplist, along with any other recipes you’ve saved from around the web. Whoop, there it is:

After you’ve saved a recipe, you can add it to your monthly meal plan by hovering over the photo of it in your Recipe Box and clicking “Plan,” or add it to your grocery list by clicking “Add To List.” I love how it generates a grocery list for you, and it’s divided by what section of the grocery store you’ll find each item in! The little blue dollar symbol even means there are deals on those items at grocery stores in your neighborhood.

Fun fact: you can also access it from any other site that uses Ziplist. Let’s say you’re over at my friend Courtney’s Neighborfood blog. Well, she uses Ziplist, too, so if you click on “Recipe Box” on her blog, you can access your personal recipe box with my Mocha Banana Breakfast Smoothie over there as well! Heck, even super major sites like Bon Appetit, Serious Eats and Parade use Ziplist!

To learn more, visit the How It Works page on ZipList’s website where you can create your account and even install a ZipList button on your browser toolbar so you can clip recipes for your recipe box from around the web!

Need some great recipes to stock your Recipe Box? Check out some of my favorite Ziplist-enabled blogs like Bake Your Day, RecipeGirl, Gimme Some Oven, Damn Delicious and Two Peas & Their Pod.

I really hope you enjoy using Ziplist, if you choose to do so. Please let me know if you have any questions, or if there is anything else I can do to make Foxes Love Lemons easier and more enjoyable to read. Cheers to being super organized, especially when it comes to all things food.

Awesome, Deb! I’ve found it really easy to use, and I think recipes look really nice in the Ziplist format. If only there was some fairy who could re-format all of my old recipes :)
