My restaurant review of Bistro Joe’s in Birmingham, MI was published for The Oakland Press last week. Would you believe it if I told you this restaurant is basically in a grocery store? Well, upstairs from a grocery store, but same difference. The food is, of course, sourced from the gourmet market below. I enthusiastically recommend this place for anyone looking for an upscale meal in a still-casual environment. The menu was inventive and carefully crafted. It’s the first time in my life I’ve had fish and pasta (and a dozen other things) on the same plate…and thought it really worked. Those little tuna tacos in wonton shells? I could eat about 20 of those with no regret. Shhhh…don’t judge. They’re small.
