In lieu of my typical restaurant review for The Oakland Press, last week I did a preview of a Spring Vegan Wine Dinner being hosted by The Root restaurant in White Lake, MI. Words cannot describe my love for this restaurant, which focuses on locally-made products as much as possible. A friend from culinary school and I celebrated our graduation there last spring. The chef at The Root, James Rigato, an all-around nice guy and fellow Schoolcraft Culinary graduate, made us an amazing custom tasting menu, and it blew our minds. We also celebrated my husband’s birthday there last fall, and again…amazing. This vegan dinner event looks like it will be really good, so anybody who lives in the Detroit area and wants to have a special night out should check it out. Even if you’re not vegan. You’ll still enjoy it. Trust me, I wouldn’t steer you wrong.
