Strawberry Lemonade Shooters
The Bible changed my life. The Flavor Bible, that is. This book lists just about any ingredient imaginable, and a huge list of other items that are flavor pairings for that ingredient.
It also tells you when each ingredient is in season, how strong of a flavor it has, and techniques used to prepare it.
The Flavor Bible‘s predecessor, Culinary Artistry, was listed as required reading for my culinary school.
While I never really needed to take it with me to class, I did religiously refer to it as I was creating new dishes for class projects, or even just dinners at home.
This post isn’t sponsored by The Flavor Bible‘s authors or anything like that, I’m just a really big fan of this book!
If you’re somebody who enjoys cooking on the fly rather than always following a recipe, I highly recommend adding a copy to your library.
It’s hugely helpful on nights where I’m like “OK, I have spinach…and chicken….and rice.
What can I add to these things to make them more flavorful?” The Flavor Bible is always there for me, guiding me to spices and other ingredients that I would have otherwise never thought of.
The Flavor Bible pointed me to the combo of ingredients for these Strawberry Lemonade Shooters in a moment of creative decline.
I knew I had lemon curd in the fridge, but was feeling uninspired in any way other than just eating it with a spoon.
The good book pointed me to strawberries, which happened to be in season; and coconut, which happened to be in my freezer.
Three ingredients, five minutes, and a perfect harmony of flavors. This perfect little party dessert looks as good as it tastes!
Psst – you may also like my shooter version of a Valentine’s day dessert!

I love the flavor bible! I did have to buy mine Kindle format…so it isn’t as convenient to use, but I still love it and the idea it represents. These look absolutely amazing.Â
Thanks Christine!Â
I had never heard of the Flavor Bible, but it sounds like a book I need to look into. Â I think there are a lot of times when I could use that as a resource. Â These look lovely and the tastes would compliment each other! Â
Oh yes, Chloe – you should definitely check it out! Maybe a library would even have a copy you could borrow for a few weeks to see if it’s something that would be useful to you?
You pretty much said exactly what I was going to say, so +1
I saw this on Google+ – loved the photo and the title, then came to read the post and totally agree – The Flavor Bible is one my number #1 resources when it comes to creating recipes! (BTW, love the new blog design too 🙂
Yay for the Flavor Bible! It is so incredibly useful that now I can’t imagine my life without it. I’m also a big fan of “Ratio” by Michael Ruhlman. That one is a major resource in my kitchen, too. Thanks for stopping by, Deanna!
