Ingredients

  • Vegetable or canola oil for frying
  • 4 corn tortillas
  • Kosher salt

Instructions

  • Pour 1/2 inch oil in high-sided skillet and heat over medium-high heat. The oil is ready when it reaches 350 degrees F. An instant-read thermometer is the easiest and safest way to know when the oil is ready.
  • Line rimmed baking pan with paper towel.
  • Slice tortillas in half lengthwise, then slice them crosswise into 1/2″ strips.
  • In batches, transfer tortilla strips to oil and fry 1 to 2 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Transfer to prepared pan and immediately sprinkle with salt.
  • Continue process with remaining tortilla strips until all are fried.
