Festive Christmas Jello Shots For Holiday Celebrations

Christmas Jello Shot Ingredients
A full recipe card, including exact ingredient amounts, appears at the bottom of this post.
- red gelatin – strawberry or cherry jello, whatever you like! You’ll need a 3-ounce box.
- green gelatin – we recommend classic lime jello here, unless you want to get wild and experiment with green apple or green watermelon flavors. Again, a 3-ounce box.
- water – you’ll need both boiling and cold water for this festive treat.
- vodka – we generally just use plain vodka for a neutral flavor, but more on this below, under “Variations.”
- whipped cream – like a can of Reddi-Wip or similar, for topping.
- sprinkles – any kind of festive Christmas sprinkles are great here, whether it’s nonpareils, jimmies or ones that look like holly berries and leaves.
- 2-ounce disposable plastic cups – shot glasses or even just condiment cups. You’ll need 24 for these Christmas holiday jello shots!
How To Make Christmas Holiday Jello Shots

- RED LAYER. Dissolve the red gelatin in boiling water, then add cold water and vodka. Divide between 24 plastic shot glasses and transfer to the refrigerator until set.

- GREEN LAYER. Dissolve the green gelatin in boiling water, then add cold water and vodka. Let this green jello mixture cool a little bit, so you don’t melt the red layer, then divide between the glasses, over the red layer. Refrigerate again until fully set.

- SERVE. Just before serving, garnish each shot with a bit of whipped topping and some sprinkles.

Home Chef Tips
- It’s important to let the green gelatin mixture cool just a little bit before pouring it over the red layer. If you do this when the green mixture is still piping hot, it will melt the red layer and the layers won’t be crisp.
- Make sure each layer is fully chilled before adding the next layer.
- For long holiday parties, place your serving tray of xmas jello shots on top of a baking pan filled with ice.
- Stabilized whipped topping like Cool Whip holds up longer than aerosol whipped topping, if you need the shots to sit for a bit during the holiday season.
