If you’re looking for a blue cocktail for the 4th of July, a Detroit Lions game or anything else that calls for blue drinks, we have a simple but delicious one for you below.

We love creating fun cocktails for different themes, but they can’t just be gimmicky: they have to TASTE good, too. Even though this blue alcohol drink, is, yes, shockingly blue, it tastes like the best fruity drink you had on your last tropical vacation.

Why You’ll Love These Blue Drinks

  • The vibrant blue color is sure to wow your guests and add a splash of fun to your party.
  • The combination of vodka, blue curacao, orange juice and lemon lime soda creates a perfectly balanced, refreshing drink.
  • It couldn’t be any easier to make – just stir it all together!

Blue Liquor Drink Ingredients

A full recipe card, including exact ingredient amounts, appears at the bottom of this post.

  • blue curaçao – this liqueur provides the signature blue color and adds sweet tropical flavor.
  • vodka – a clean, neutral flavored alcohol to give the drink some oomph. We liked this drink best with vodka, but we provide alternate options below.
  • orange juice – adds a bit of sweetness. Squeeze it from a fresh orange if you can!
  • lemon lime soda – brings the fizz and makes this drink an easy sipper. Lemonade is also nice here.
  • orange peels and maraschino cherries – optional, for garnish. A cocktail umbrella is also always welcome.

Variations Of Blue Beverages

  • LIQUOR – If you don’t like vodka, you can make this with tequila. Gin, white rum and coconut rum also work pretty well!
  • FRUIT JUICE – Not a fan of orange juice? Try an equal amount of fresh lemon juice or lime juice. Even pineapple juice works well.
  • BLENDED – Blend everything together with ice in a blender until slushy, instead of serving this on the rocks.
